Woodside: The Third Year

Can you believe it’s been three years since we started work on Woodside? The progress isn’t as noticeable when you see the house every single day like we do, but when I look back at pictures from the first year and second year – WOW, we have come a long way! The biggest change (for us, at least) is that we now live at the … Continue reading Woodside: The Third Year

Insulation + Drywall

Guys, we have (some) walls! After finishing up the electrical and plumbing in the basement and first floor, we got to work insulating those areas. We used traditional insulation in the basement, and then opted for spray foam insulation throughout the rest of the house. Why spray foam? Beams, Bricks & Paw Prints

Holy hiatus. It was around this time last year that I posted about how summer is the busiest time of year for both of us at work. Construction: Garage & Kitchen

In case you missed it, we recently hit our one-year anniversary of owning Woodside! How did we celebrate? More house projects, of course. We started by having our sewer and plumbing lines reconnected to the house. Renovation Plan: First Floor

Everyone doing okay after all that creepy basement talk in our last post? Don’t worry, this time we’re moving up to the first floor, which isn’t really too creepy but stillĀ has some challenges of its own (like the bees living between the first & second floors above the living room). Because we are receiving tax credits from the State of Missouri for our renovation, we … Continue reading Renovation Plan: First Floor

Demo: Kitchen

In every home I visit, the kitchen always seems to be the gathering spot. No matter what is going on in other rooms, everyone clusters around the kitchen. In addition to there likely being a summer kitchen at Woodside, a later extension was added to the north side of the original home to serve as the indoor kitchen. When we bought the house, the kitchen … Continue reading Demo: Kitchen
