Woodside has been buzzing with activity the past few weeks! The entire interior is now painted, light fixtures are up and our HVAC system is running throughout the house. All of this needed to be finished prior to our flooring company beginning their repair and refinishing work on the wood floors.
They used a combination of old wood we pulled up in other areas of the house and new wood to make repairs throughout the first and second floors. They then went through several rounds of sanding, followed by water popping, which is a process that opens the grains in the floor to enhance the stain absorption. The last step was to apply the stain and polyurethane; we went with Dark Walnut for the stain color and Satin for the polyurethane finish.
The floor was so decrepit in some areas that we completely removed it instead of even attempting to repair. Both levels of the enclosed porch have completely new flooring, as well as portions of the tv room and all of the closets on the second floor. Remember how I almost fell through the second floor porch the first time we visited Woodside?! We have certainly come a long way since then.
