Woodside: The Third Year

Can you believe it’s been three years since we started work on Woodside? The progress isn’t as noticeable when you see the house every single day like we do, but when I look back at pictures from the first year and second year – WOW, we have come a long way!

The biggest change (for us, at least) is that we now live at the house. That, and I learned how to drive the Bobcat. I am happy to report that I didn’t run into the house, but I may have overshot a fence post and rolled it completely over the dumpster (you know, instead of INTO the dumpster).

Over the past year, we’ve done a lot of framing and exterior work, as well as working to get the basement finished so that we could move in.

Our siding contractors will start work in the next few days, and we are also in the process of installing our kitchen (which is why the dining room picture above is slightly chaotic; it’s doubling as kitchen cabinet storage as we go through the installation process). After cooking with only a mini fridge, microwave and toaster oven in the basement kitchenette for the past few weeks, I am definitely excited to have some full-size appliances and countertops again in the near future.

What is your favorite Woodside transformation from the past year?

  2. Having lived in Maplewood for over 20 years and having eyed Hillside and hoped for its resurrection, I am thrilled to see your progress! Thanks for giving us an “inside look” through your blog!

    1. Oops….meant to say Woodside (just located on the hill!)

The house always has reminded me of the house in “It’s a Wonderful Life”!
